Backpackers Hostel Tsubame no Yado

Bay Area

Welcome to Kambara! A traveler-friendly town

Backpackers Hostel Tsubame no Yado is a dormitory-style hostel displaying a ubiquitous fusion of Japanese- and western-style accommodation. Adjacent to a time-honored 160-years-old Japanese house, the hostel’s young host, Osawa-san, kindly welcomes backpackers from abroad and guides them around Kambara Town with attentive care and warm hospitality.

Rooms are light and spacious, decorated with wood and tatami that every guest can get a feeling of Japanese hospitality. With shared spaces like the living room and kitchen, you’ll enjoy interacting with other guests and discovering other cultures.

Kambara is located east of the Shimizu Bay area nestled between the magnificent Suruga Bay and the mountains behind it. It is an attractive local town with an indelible imprint on the history and culture of the Old Tokaido Road, an old arterial road that connected the ancient capital city of Kyoto and the current capital city of Tokyo. Walking or cycling along the old post town streets will take you back to the Edo era.

Osawa-san enjoys guiding guests to these activities and envisions attracting people from all over the world to Kambara to foster the recognition of cultural differences through sharing.
