Makinohara Terroir related to nature and tradition

Makinohara Plateau is one of the largest tea-producing areas in Japan. It has a mild climate, long hours of daylight, and weakly acidic soil with good drainage; all of this comes together to produce thick green tea leaves that are rich in minerals.

Kaneju Tea Farm in the Makinohara area consistently produces flavorful green tea leaves year after year on their approximately 20 hectares of tea field which stretches towards the Pacific Ocean. The raw tea leaves are then steamed longer—in the traditional Makinohara method—to create a taste akin to full-bodied wine. Please enjoy their original flavored tea or low caffeine Earl Gray Green Tea. After various tea tastings, experience the joy of tea farming, such as tea picking and planting seedlings.
