Country Life Experiences at an Old Waterwheel Village
Mountain AreaCountry life and nature experiences by the Seto River
Setonoya in Fujieda City, Shizuoka prefecture, is renowned as a paradise for aromatic green tea because of its blessed location between the mountains along the Seto River.
A traditional, rustic Japanese house located upstream provides an idyllic country-life and nature experience here at the Waterwheel Village (Suisha Mura). Upon crossing a suspension bridge, a time-weathered water wheel attached to a 250-year old country house will warmly welcome you.
The highly recommended half-day plan includes chopping firewood, catching Yamame brook trout by hand, rice cooking on a woodfire stove, and grilling dishes by the fireplace. It is also fun to explore nature in the luxuriant forest while staying at the nearby Tsubaki Tei.
